Types of Reports
We provide a broad range of forensic and medico-legal assessments tailored to the needs of the court, tribunal, or referring practitioner.
- Sentencing Reports. Assessments addressing an individual's psychological functioning, mental health history, offending-related factors, treatment needs, rehabilitation prospects, and risk considerations relevant to sentencing proceedings.
- Section 14 Assessments. Assessments prepared under the Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act 2020 (NSW) to assist the Court in determining whether a defendant has a mental health impairment or cognitive impairment and whether diversion is appropriate.
- Fitness to Stand Trial Assessments. Evaluations of a person's capacity to understand court proceedings, instruct legal representatives, and participate meaningfully in their defence.

Required Materials
To ensure a comprehensive assessment, we recommend providing as much relevant material as possible at the time of referral.
Commonly requested documents include:
- Letter of instruction and referral questions
- Court attendance notices
- Police facts sheets
- Criminal history
- Statements and briefs of evidence
- Medical and mental health records
- Previous psychological or psychiatric reports
- Educational or employment records (where relevant)
- Custody information and AVL details (where applicable)

Referral Process
We aim to make the referral process straightforward and efficient.
Submit your referral, letter of instruction, relevant documents, and any court-imposed deadlines. Our team will confirm suitability, availability, fees, and likely timeframes.
The client attends an assessment in person, via telehealth, or via AVL where appropriate. Additional collateral information and psychometric testing may be obtained if required.
The psychologist prepares an independent forensic report addressing the referral questions and provides the completed report to the instructing party.
Where required, the assessing psychologist may provide expert evidence in court or participate in conferences with legal representatives.

All assessments conducted by Duffy Robilliard Forensic Psychologists are independent and objective. Our psychologists owe their primary duty to the court, tribunal, or decision-maker rather than to any party involved in the proceedings.
Opinions are based on the available evidence, professional expertise, and applicable psychological principles. Reports are prepared in accordance with relevant professional, ethical, and legal standards governing expert evidence.
